An Overview of my Qualifications:

  • Completion of a DONA Approved Doula training workshop
  • Certification with two of the World's Premier Doula organizations -DONA International and CAPPA Canada
  • 8+ years researching childbirth, pregnancy, newborn care, breast feeding etc.
  • Breast feeding training By Dr.Jack Newman and Cambridge Memorial Hospital,
  • C.P.R. Training with Certificate
  • Great evaluations from Doctors, Nurses, Midwives and most importantly my clients
  • Membership with CAPPA Canada, Doula C.A.R.E. and DONA International
  • Attendance at many standard prenatal classes as an observer
  • Active experience in all types of Birth settings since 2003

A Little About Myself...
My name is Tammy L Costa; I live in Cambridge with my husband and 3 children. Caring women assisted me through all of the deliveries, and I am very grateful for the help I received. My appreciation has led me to assist other women with their birthing experience.
I recognize the positive effects of Doula support for labouring women. I have seen that women who are treated with respect, patience and kindness benefit greatly. They are calm and able to find deep inner strength. They feel a great sense of accomplishment and go on to mother with confidence.
I am a certified member of Doulas of North America (DONA). I also work as a member of Doula C.A.R.E. inc. alongside of Doctors, Nurses, and Midwives.
I have been working as a professional Birth Doula since Oct.2003 and have enjoyed birth in a wide variety of settings from home birth to hospital birth, medicated and non-medicated; Cesarean sections, VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean section), Inductions, fast labours, slow labours, first time parents and those who are well seasoned! Every birth is unique.
